2.0 | SOP for customer onboarding via distributors 


Overview: This SOP is intended to guide customers who wish to invest only in Mutual Funds and have been identified as ‘Aadhaar Non-Serviceable’. 


  • Such users were previously marked as “End of Journey”, but with the recent update, they are now allowed to continue onboarding specifically for Mutual Fund investments. No other investment journeys are supported for these users at this stage. 
  • This document provides a step-by-step walkthrough of the onboarding flow, outlining the actions the customer must take to complete the process and become eligible to start investing in Mutual Funds.

Pre-requisities

Before you begin the Mutual Fund onboarding process, please ensure the following: 

  • You have access to an Android phone. 
  • You have your KYC documents ready, specifically, your PAN card and Aadhaar card. 
  • You keep a pen and paper nearby, in case you're required to upload your signature. 
  • You have your primary bank account details (account number, IFSC, etc.) available for verification and investment purposes. 
  • Using the device on ‘Light mode’ will keep the flow smooth. (recommended)

We will understand the flow in 2 parts:

  • . Common onboarding flow 
  • . Customised MF activation flow

Part 1: Common onboarding flow 

  • Step 1: Select Language 
  • Select ‘English’ and click on “Continue” 
  • Step 2: Get started 


  • When you land on the welcome screen, click on ‘Get started’ on screen 1 
  • On the next screen, click on “Sign up” to register yourself.


Step 3: Give Permissions 

Click on ‘Allow permissions’ 

  • You will get 3 pop ups - phone call, sms and location 
  • For Phone call and SMS, click on “Allow” 
  • For location, click on “While using the app”



Step 4: Enter your full name and distributor code

  • Enter your full name linked with Aadhar and PAN 
  • Click on “Enter code” and you will be redirected to “Screen 2” 
  • Enter the Alpha numeric code and click on “Submit” 


You will land back on the “Enter name” screen, here you have the chance to change the code if you’re entered the incorrect one in previous screen Click on “Sign up” if you’re good to go. 


Important: Distributor Code Entry 


Please enter the distributor code only if you are onboarding via the following companies: 

  • Novopay — RCQVAM 
  • Payworld — K7MBNX

Entering an incorrect code will result in an error, and the mapping to your distributor will not be successful. 

If you have a ‘employee code’ you can add that followed by the 6 DIGIT code on the space provided. Or you can simply add the 6 digit code.


Step 5: Enter your mobile number and complete OTP verification 

  • Enter your 10 digit Indian mobile number and click on 'Sign up with OTP” 
  • A 6 digit OTP will be sent to your registred mobile number, enter the same on the space provided. 
  • If you have not received the OTP, click on “resend OTP” which will be activated in 2 minutes. 
  • Once you have entered the OTP, click on “confirm” to move to the next step.


Step 6: Set passcode or enable biometric 

  • To keep your account safe, enter a 4 digit passcode of your choice and re-enter the same in the “confirm passcode” tab. 
  • Ensure the 4 digit code matches. Biometric (finger print security) will also be availble for you, you can choose to disable it by swiping left on the green icon shown in screen 1
  •  If you wish to go ahead, click on “confirm” and submit your fingerprint. 

At this stage, you have successfully finished the sign up flow and are onboarded with us, you can now move to the next stage to complete the KYC verification.


Step 7: Continue onboarding and complete KYC verification 

  • After completing the sign up process, you land on screen 1 
  • If you click on ‘complete onboarding’ you wil be moved to the next step - KYC verification PAN & Aadhar) 
  • If you click on ‘Explore Appreciate’, you will be taken to the home dashboard where you will see the banner “Complete KYC” 

When you click on “complete now” you are redirected to the same KYC verification flow 


PAN Verification – Two Easy Options 

You can verify your PAN using either of the following methods: 

Option 1: Upload or Capture PAN Card Photo 

  • Tap on “Capture front of PAN” 
  • You’ll be given two choices: 

Upload Photo – Opens your gallery so you can select an existing image of your PAN card. 

Click Photo – Opens your camera to take a fresh picture of the front side of your PAN card. 


Make sure the image is clear and readable before proceeding. 


Option 2: Add Details Manually 

Tap on “Add manually” 

Enter the following details exactly as they appear on your PAN card: 

  • Full PAN number 
  • Full name 
  • Date of birth

Click on “Proceed” to complete the PAN verification. 

PAN Error Handling 

If you face any issues during the PAN verification: 

  • Tap “Retry” and try again, ensuring all details are correct or the photo is clear.

Aadhar verification

Once your PAN is successfully verified, you'll be directed to the Aadhaar Verification screen. 

  • Tap on “Verify Aadhaar” – You will be redirected to the DigiLocker website. 
  • On the DigiLocker screen: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number. 
  • Complete OTP verification using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. 
  • Enter your 6-digit security PIN.If you’ve forgotten the PIN, click on “Forgot PIN” to reset it. 

After successful verification, you’ll reach the Consent Screen Screen 6. Click on “Allow” to give consent and complete the process. You’ll be redirected back to the app, where a success message will confirm that your Aadhaar is verified. 


Aadhar error handling 

If you encounter an error such as data mismatch or linking issues: Tap “Retry” – This will redirect you to repeat both PAN and Aadhaar verification steps. Still facing issues? Reach out to support at helpdesk@ppreciate.com

Step 8 - Give consent to Account aggregator (optional) & email verification 

After successfully completing your KYC verification, you will land on the “Allow Faster Onboarding” screen. 

If you click on ‘Proceed’: 

You’ll enter the Account Aggregator AA) flow, where: 

a. Select your primary bank account. 

b. Complete an OTP verification. 

c. Provide consent to fetch account details. 

d. Complete a second OTP verification to confirm. 


If you click on Skip’:

You’ll be redirected to the Email Verification screen. 

  • Enter your primary email ID. 
  • Complete the OTP verification sent to your email. 
  • Note: If you gave consent to Account Aggregator, the email verification step will appear after that flow is completed.


Step 9: Fill personal details 

  • ‘India’ is by default added as country of birth for you 
  • For city, please select from the list of search for the same and click on proceed 
  • Select your marital status and click on proceed, 
  • Select your annual income from the options given and click on proceed. 


Step 9: Calculate the investment score and select product

Once you land on screen 2 - Investment score, we analyse your data and provide you a score, click on ‘improve your score’ and land on the product selection screen and select only ‘Mutual funds’ 

Click on proceed to continue with your customised onboarding for Mutual funds. 


I am detected as ‘Aadhaar Non-Serviceable’. How do I proceed?

If you're identified as an ‘Aadhaar Non-Serviceable’ customer, don’t worry, you can still continue and invest in Mutual Funds. 


You’ll see a screen like the one below (see attached image) informing you about your Aadhaar status.


What to do next: 

  • Simply click on “Proceed” on that screen. 
  • You’ll be redirected to the Mutual Fund Activation flow. 
  • Follow the on-screen instructions step by step, including , submitting professional, bank details, signature, and e-sign. Once completed successfully, your account will be ready, and you'll be able to start investing in Mutual Funds. ✅ Being marked Aadhaar non-serviceable doesn’t stop your Mutual Fund journey . you can still onboard and invest smoothly.

At this stage, your common onboarding is completed, you will now be able to activate mutual funds


Step 10: Fill professional details 

  • Enter your father’s full name as per your PAN pard, ensure the name is within 35 characters 
  • Click on proceed to move to the next screen 
  • Select your profession from the options given and click on proceed to complete the step.


Step 11: Add bank account for mutual funds.

At this stage, you’ll need to provide your primary bank account details. This account will be used for your mutual fund investments. 

  • . Enter your full name as per your bank records and PAN. 
  • . Enter your account number 1216 digits). 
  • . Enter the IFSC code of your bank branch.

Then, click on ‘Fetch Details’ — we’ll verify the information with the bank. 


On the ‘Review Bank Details’ screen: 

  • Click on ‘Verify Bank’ to confirm and link your account. 
  • Once the verification is successful, you’ll land on the confirmation screen. 
  • Click the CTA) button to proceed to the next step. 


Error handling 


  • If you encounter any error as such, please click on ‘verify again’ and ensure to add correct details and ensure your name matches bank and PAN records For any doubts or clarifications, raise your concern here - helpdesk@ppreciate.com 
  • At this stage, two journeys follow from here, if you’re an existing MF Investor, and if you’re not.


MF KYC Verified flow Existing MF Investor) 

When you land on your Mutual Fund dashboard, check the banner at the top: 

  • If you see “You’re ready to invest”, it means your mutual fund account is successfully created and you're all set to begin investing. 
  • If you see “Account setup in progress”, please wait — your account is still being created. You won’t be able to invest until this is completed. 


Next Step: Explore Funds

If your account is ready, click the “Explore Funds” CTA on the banner. This will take you to the Popular Funds page where you can browse and choose a mutual fund to invest in. Note: This “Ready to Invest” banner will stay visible until you complete your first successful investment. 


MF KYC NON Verified Flow New to investing in MF 

Once your bank account verification is successful, you are automatically redirected to complete the following steps: 

  • . Submit signature photo 
  • . Aadhaar verification via Digilocker 
  • . E-sign verification

Once these steps are complete and your KYC application is submitted, it usually takes 24 to 48 hours for the KRA to respond with the status. Until then, you’ll see a “MF verification in progress” banner on your Mutual Fund dashboard. 


Let’s understand the process in detail 

Step 2  Signature verification 

Step 1: Signature Verification 

You will first be asked to upload a photo of your signature. Please follow these instructions: 

  • Use a blue or black pen 
  • Sign on a plain white sheet of paper 
  • Make sure the signature is bold and clearly visible 
  • Try to match your PAN card signature 
  • Take a clear and focused photo (avoid blurs) 

If you're not happy with the result, click on the “Delete” button and upload a new photo. Once submitted, you’ll automatically move to the next step. Step 2  Aadhar verification through Digi locker

Step 2: Aadhaar Verification via Digilocker 

After submitting your signature, you’ll be redirected to the Digilocker portal for Aadhaar verification. 

  • Enter your Aadhaar number 
  • Complete the OTP verification 
  • If prompted, enter your 6-digit Digilocker PIN 
  • Click ‘Forgot PIN’ if you can’t remember it) 
  • Review the consent screen and click “Allow”

Once verified, you’ll be redirected back to the e-sign screen. 


Step 3  E-sign verification 

This is the final step. 

  • You’ll be redirected to an NSDL e-sign page 
  • Tick the checkbox to agree to terms and conditions 
  • Enter your Aadhaar number 
  • Complete the OTP verification

These are mandatory regulatory steps to complete KYC for Mutual Fund investments. 


⚠️ Note: If the e-sign step fails (often due to high traffic), you’ll return to the app with an error message. Wait for a few minutes and try again. You can retry unlimited times until it succeeds. 


Once your e-sign is successful, you’ll land on the final confirmation screen — “KYC Submitted”


What happens if the user’s KYC application gets rejected in Round 2 as well? 

  • If your KYC is rejected a second time, you won’t be allowed to retry again on our platform. 
  • Your Mutual Fund journey ends here, and you become permanently ineligible to invest via our app. 
  • You’ll see a different banner on your MF dashboard explaining the reason for rejection.
